Three ways to make your lipstick last longer!

No one wants to look in the mirror and see that the lipstick they applied only an hour or two ago is completely worn off. When I apply a lipstick I want it to last well throughout the day, not to give up on me after a couple of sips of coffee. By taking these extra steps you can save yourself the trouble of reapplying every few hours.

1. Exfoliate! By exfoliating you can remove the dead skin cells that lipstick tends to cling on to. You can exfoliate your lips by (gently!) rubbing your lips with a washcloth or with a dry toothbrush.

2. Moisturize! With your favorite lip balm, moisturize your lips. Healthy, moisturized lips keep color on much longer than dehydrated lips.

3. Apply, Blot and Re-Apply! After applying the first layer of lipstick, blot your lips and reapply another coat. Blotting removes any oil from the lips while leaving the pigments in place.

4. Go Bold! Darker lipsticks have more pigment which means they tend to last longer on the lips (our own Empire Red, for example, is packed with pigment – some may come off during the day, but you’ll likely still keep more than a just-bitten look by the end of it).

In review, layering colors and keeping your lips hydrated are the keys to keeping your lip color in place all day. As for those extra trips to the bathroom to touch up your lip color? Kiss them goodbye. Try out these tips and let me know what you think!
